The Institute of Travel & Tourism was set up to raise and maintain professional standards throughout the travel industry and for the benefit of its Members.
Membership of ITT is open to everyone involved in travel and tourism – whether employed by a travel agency, airline, tour operator, hotel, tourist office, car hire company or any other travel related business such as PR, law and marketing.
The Institute also welcomes travel and tourism educators and their students.
ITT provides Members with support and guidance at the same time as encouraging excellence and professionalism.
There are also many opportunities for Members to network and exchange views with industry peers and colleagues created through ITT's popular social and business events.
Julia Lo Bue-Said, Chief Executive Officer, Advantage
Julia was promoted to Chief Executive Officer in April 2018 having originally been appointed Managing Director of the Advantage Travel Centres group in July 2013.
Julia has responsibility for running the business on a day-to-day basis as well as developing the strategy and vision for the company.
With a sales turnover of approximately £4.5 billion and a diverse business model which incorporates membership of travel agents and travel management companies, an insurance company and insurance broker.
In March 2017 Julia led the process for acquiring a majority shareholding in an international business, WIN Global Travel Network, of which Advantage were previously shareholders alongside three other businesses. In the same month, Advantage announced the launch of their first licensing agreement with Pricol, an Indian based travel company.
Following a review of the business, in 2013 Julia launched Vision 2020 – a strategic plan which outlines the business’ key goals; redefining the business culture to one of momentum, enthusiasm, high performance and energy; repositioning the business to The Advantage Travel Partnership providing greater clarity of its business-to-business ethos and membership value; restructuring of marketing, business development and commercial as core services to the entire group as well as the introduction of a new governance framework for the company.
Previously, as Leisure Director for Advantage, Julia oversaw the leisure travel function for the company where she was responsible for delivering best-in-class commercial arrangements across a wide portfolio of product.
With technology playing an ever-increasing part of the group, The Advantage Travel Gateway, a multi-channel distribution technology platform providing its members with access to aggregated leisure product, was launched in 2010. Originally driven by Julia, the Gateway underpins the core leisure strategy across the business.
In August 2016, Advantage Holidays was launched, the group’s first steps into running a tour operation; providing its members with a long-awaited ATOL solution.
In June 2018, Advantage launched its own meetings and events division, Advantage Meetings & Events.
Having worked her way up to her current position, Julia has been at Advantage for 23 years. She has been an ITT board director since 2011, and in 2012 was inducted into the Women's 1st Top 100 Club for Travel and Hospitality.
After studying travel and tourism at college Julia started her travel career working overseas before joining WH Smith Travel until they were acquired by AT Mays and latterly absorbed by Thomas Cook. Julia then held roles with Balkan Holidays and The Best Travel Group before joining Advantage.
