ITT Future You recruits first industry Apprentice Ambassador

In its latest initiative to support the next generation of industry talent, ITT Future You has appointed travel apprentice, Chloe Lee as its first ITT Future You Apprentice Ambassador. The new role has been created to shine a light on the apprenticeship route in to the sector and is part of the ITT's drive to encourage travel businesses to recruit apprentices over the next 12 months.

Working alongside the ITT Education and Training Committee, Chloe will be helping to drive engagement with the next generation, starting with a series of ‘Spotlight On…’ interviews with a range of industry professionals to highlight the different entry points and opportunities across the sector. The first in the series will feature Lee Ainsworth, Head of Advantage Holidays, who started his career as an Apprentice and is an advocate of apprenticeships as an entry route to the sector and also as an opportunity for continuing professional development.
Claire Steiner, ITT Education & Training Chair stated “It is crucial, now more than ever, that we support the next generation of emerging talent, encouraging them to continue to look at careers in travel and tourism despite the current challenges we face due to Covid-19. We will also continue to support existing talent, showcasing opportunities and help that is available, including degree level apprenticeships. My thanks to Northern Training Academy for sponsoring Chloe in this new role, which she will do as part of her Apprenticeship training. Along with our University Student Ambassadors, Chloe will provide a voice for the student population and help create more opportunities for industry and education to work together for the future benefit of all as well as helping develop our ITT Future You initiative, which continues to go from strength to strength”.
Jo Roche, Managing Director of Northern Training Academy said: “The team at Northern Training Academy (NTA) are delighted to be working with ITT. The Board and Committee members have always been hugely supportive of education and training for the travel and tourism industry and I feel very privileged to be able to be part of the ITT Education and Training Committee.  Working closely with industry professionals helps the team at NTA to ensure that we are providing education and training opportunities that meet the very specific needs of this diverse industry.

There is a need (even more so with the challenges of Covid-19 still creating ongoing uncertainty) for our vital resource, people, to receive the support and information they need to start and progress their careers.  ITT, and in particular, the Future You initiative, helps signpost and provide advice and guidance for all: either for those wishing to enter the industry, along with those already employed.  Our travel Apprentice Ambassador, Chloe Lee, is the epitome of what we hope the industry values in their people – enthusiastic, knowledgeable, positive, hardworking and above all to has a sense of humour!  The whole team at NTA are excited to be helping Chloe on her own travel and tourism journey, as well as helping to support her to help others".
Chloe added “I am super excited to be working with Northern Training Academy alongside ITT Future You as an Apprentice Ambassador.  My aim is to help people understand the day in the life of a travel and tourism apprentice as well as develop my own career. I am here to help guide younger people with their career in travel and tourism and to advise how apprenticeships can help get them into their career, along with how they can move forward in the industry".

The first 'Spotlight On…' interview with Lee Ainsworth is now available to watch via the ITT Future You Youtube channel.
